Gasabo 3D scoops coveted “Intego” ICT excellence awards

Friday 31st October 2013-Kigali Rwanda; Gasabo 3D has scooped one of Rwanda’s most coveted awards on excellence in ICT. Dubbed the “Intego” ICT excellence awards Gasabo 3D won the awards in the category of best foreign direct investment solution provider. The award ceremony held at Serena Hotel - Kigali.

The Intego ICT excellence awards, organized by the Rwanda Information Technology Agency (RITA), are in line with Rwanda’s development roadmap for ICT sector technically known as the National Information and Communication Infrastructure (NICI) plan.

The awards recognized over 20 companies, public policy makers, and technocrats, institutions of higher learning and civil society that are active participants in the progress achieved in the country’s ICT sector.
The awards were divided into various categories, with MTN Rwandacell winning in infrastructure development while Rwanda Commercial Bank (BCR) emerged winners in a category dubbed “info-structure” and business solutions.

Maraba Coffee a leading coffee processing firm emerged winners in agricultural category while New Artel was named winners in best internet services provision..
The Rwanda office of tourism and national parks (ORTPN) was named best in tourism sector.

A leading ICT services provider SMS Media scooped the top awards in business outsourcing while Nyamata Tele-center one of the rural access providers in ICT was named tops in bridging the digital divide category.
Dash-S-Technologies Co Ltd an integrated ICT solution provider within different sectors of the economy emerged as the best ICT start-up company.

Other winners included ICT firm A-link that won the category known as “highest export potential” while The National University of Rwanda won in the best provider in education. Health Unlimited Co Ltd won in the category of “infotainment” while Tracnet a service provider in the health sector scooped the best health service provider award. The department of immigration was named in best government solution provision while EICT a training firm was named tops in ICT training.

RITA executive director Mr.Nkubito Bakuramutsa lauded the winners for their concerted efforts in deepening usage of ICT in the economy.
“It is important is to note that one of the best ways to encourage excellence and innovation in the ICT sector is recognising every single step that is taken in the right direction. This award system gives direction on how to recognize those taking the necessary steps in enabling the national ICT plans to take shape”,Bakuramutsa added.

The chief guest of the event the Right Honorable Prime Minister Bernard Makuza reiterated the importance that the government attaches to ICT sector development as a key enabler of achieving the vision 2020.
“We need to join hands in order to facilitate other sectors of the economy to grow through development of a vibrant ICT sector. When we achieve this, I think our vision 2020 will have become a reality”.

Honorable Makuza also stressed the importance of ICT, saying that the 21th century is defined and driven by the information super highways and ICT-added services.

The CEO of Gasabo 3D Mr John Rugamba said that it was a pleasant surprise for the ICT stakeholders to award his company.

“This awards ceremony gives our company the higher motive to develop newer more exciting exportable products needed by the economy to bring in foreign exchange while being at the forefront of fostering the development of ICT”.
